Today Tim Gill and I have a thought piece in the LSE’s Latin America and Caribbean Blog on the Venezuelan crisis, in which we look at the emerging and potential efforts to address the Venezuelan crisis. It might seem odd to refer to the OAS as “Post-Western.” By that we mean, following Oliver Stuenkel, initiatives that are not being led by the US or Europe. Indeed the “Group of Fifteen” (although this time without Belize) that has again signed a resolution on the margins of the OAS, is being led by Mexico. The goal is to spur thinking about possible diplomatic alternatives with respect to Venezuela’s crisis.
